Can I use my own gemstones for a custom ring design?Updated 5 months ago
Yes, you may use your own gemstones for a custom ring design. We require that the gemstone setting is completed in-house, and a setting fee applies which varies depending on the value of your stone. Below is the process that we use to ensure that your gemstone will be returned safely back to you:
1) We need a copy of your gem certificate or appraisal so that there is a detailed record of your gemstone. After you receive your ring, any independent jeweler or appraiser should be able to verify that what we returned to you matches the original certificate or appraisal.
2) We can provide you with an insured shipping label (at a nominal fee) so that you can safely mail your gemstone to us, or you can make an appointment to drop off your diamond or jewelry at our New York City studio.
3) Everything we do is fully insured through Jewelers Mutual: our premise, our inventory, and client assets entrusted to our possession. Therefore, should anything happen to your valuables during manufacturing, you are 100% covered. As such, we assess a fee to provide this service based on the value of your asset. This fee is $250 for goods valued under $5000, and increases by $250 for each additional $5000 in value.
To move forward with a ring design using your own gemstone, please send us an email at [email protected] and let us know what you would like to create, along with a certificate or appraisal of your gemstone.
